ABOUT THE POSITION
340B Health assists safety net hospitals to provide services to more patients with low incomes and those living in rural areas by working to protect the federal 340B drug pricing program and its critical role of subsidizing the health care safety net.
340B Health is recruiting a candidate to lead 340B Health Government Relations. The SVP for Government Relations reports directly to the CEO and manages a team of professionals and multiple retained consultants to achieve short and long-term goals to protect and promote 340B. This position involves continuously anticipating and assessing opportunities and threats and engaging appropriately on behalf of 340B Health and the hospitals we serve.
The SVP will be a self-motivated and inspiring leader who is able to clearly articulate a vision and strategy, identify and align internal and external resources, and influence outcomes. The chosen candidate will be a skilled mentor who builds effective cross-functional teams and lifts and develops direct reports. This role requires a deep commitment to a member-first mindset with frequent engagement between the membership and 340B Health.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In partnership with the CEO and Leadership Team, develop long-term and short-term goals and establish plans for achieving such goals in areas of:
Advocacy with Capitol Hill, the Administration, as well as assisting members with State advocacy and policy tracking
Ensure strategic positioning of 340B Health by anticipating and assessing opportunities and threats impacting 340B, and developing proactive responses
Mobilize members to achieve advocacy goals
Overseeing and ensuring strategic use of 340B Health’s Political Action Committee
Manage four-person team and multiple retained consultants
Manage, develop, and retain high-functioning staff
Coordinate work, be responsible for the morale, and ensure that strong positive relationships are developed within other parts of the organization, members, and others
Foster training and professional development to ensure opportunity for individual career growth
Build and maintain relationships with public officials, legislative offices, hospital associations, industry partners, and thought leaders to build consensus, drive goals, and influence public discourse
Lead presentations, serve on panels, serve as spokesperson, and otherwise engage in public speaking to a wide range of internal and external audiences and events
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree required.
12-15 years’ experience. Combined related experience in government affairs, health, or public policy
Experience managing a team of professionals and multiple retained consultants to achieve results on multiple issues, building collaboration both among members of the team, and with other departments within the organization
Maintenance of extensive bi-partisan contacts on Capitol Hill and within the Administration, especially in health care related departments
Understanding of Political Action Committee management and fundraising
Keen understanding of stakeholder engagement and how to activate member advocacy to build movement on key issues
Available off hours for rapid response and crisis communications
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Must reside in MD/VA/DC metro area
Experience in hospital, pharmacy, and drug pricing a strong plus
OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION:
Staff are currently required to work in the office a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday – Wednesday, and other days as needed. This is not negotiable.

Annual salary range is $225K – $330K.
