The National Association of Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (Naphsis) is seeking an Executive Director to lead the only national association representing the 57 Vital Records jurisdictions in the United States, Territories and Districts.
Executive Director Position Summary
The Naphsis Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the association and is responsible for overseeing the membership, personnel, finances, advocacy, and education programs. The Executive Director reports to the Naphsis Board of Directors President and is responsible for supporting the association’s board of directors in carrying out the work of the membership association. The Naphsis board of directors is seeking an Executive Director that has experience in Vital Records as well as association work to continue the organization’s strong reputation of being a nationally recognized association, and to lead its development and growth into the future.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the primary staff point of contact to the Naphsis Board of Directors. Prepares the agenda and supporting documents for all board meetings.
Works with the Naphsis management team to prepare operational activities, policies and procedures.
Serves as the responsible person for the association’s human resources. Works with the management team to:
Hire, train, evaluate and retain Naphsis employees and contractors;
Ensure that all employee position descriptions and contractor scope of work descriptions reflect the responsibilities and qualifications required for each job;
Administer the Naphsis compensation program for all employees and contractors, and performance appraisal process for all employees.
Ensures that all work and projects assigned to the Naphsis staff is carried out in an efficient manner. When necessary, evaluate work processes for quality and timeliness improvements.
Develop and recommend to the Naphsis Board of Directors the association’s 5 year strategic plan and supporting annual plans. Ensure the objectives and work of these plans are carried out and sufficiently completed.
Serves as the association professional representative for advocacy efforts with stakeholders, partners, vendors and other professional associates.
Successfully manage the association's brand, reputation, communications, and key marketing.
Work with the Naphsis management team to plan all webinars, meetings and conferences hosted by the association.
Attend relevant meetings of other associations, partners, and stakeholders, as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field required. Graduate degree is desirable.
At least 10 years of progressive management experience is required.
Experience in the Vital Records field or association management with a CAE credential is preferred.
A comprehensive background and understanding of non-profit association business operations is required.
Any combination of the above education and experience will be considered.
Ability to travel regularly (approximately 25% of the time).

Position Classification
This position is full-time exempt, does not qualify to receive overtime, and is excluded from minimum wage requirements. Employment with Naphsis is at-will and can be performed within the U.S remotely.
