Reporting to the Sr. Director, Information Technology/Systems Project Lead in Data, Research & Technology, the Director of Information Technology Operations position is intended to absorb some of the current responsibilities of the Sr. Director, Information Technology as she begins to lead the 3-4-year systems project. These responsibilities are largely operational, but will also have a managerial component, as this position will oversee the Survey Administrator, either as a direct supervisor, or in a matrixed capacity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The core functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Information Technology Operations Activities
- Tracks work portfolios for all IT staff to ensure that ownership of functions is clearly defined, that no area is unstaffed, and that workload is equitable across the IT staff.
- Works directly with Director of Global Technology to gather invoices paid by credit card to reconcile monthly expenses in Concur.
- Attends periodic meetings with vendors, including but not limited to, designDATA, Association Analytics, ForumOne, and Personify.
- Acts as departmental escalation point of contact for all regions and divisions regarding questions and activities (except those related to the systems project) with the authority to hand off issues to the IT staffer who has responsibility for that issue in their portfolio.
- Acts as escalation point for vendor issues (except those related to the systems project).
- Sets the agenda for regular IT meetings and acts as timekeeper and meeting facilitator.
Data Privacy Responsibilities
- Responds to privacy questions and concerns from staff and other constituencies, with escalation to the Sr. Director of Information Technology.
- With guidance from the Sr. Director of Information Technology, completes periodic reviews of privacy language in CASE documents.
- Convenes a global staff team to assist with dissemination of privacy information, procedures and changes to guidelines to staff. The purpose of this team is to maintain consistency of practices in CASE offices around the world.
- Works with Talent & Culture staff to assign and track mandatory privacy training for new staff and annual refresher training for all staff.
Management Responsibilities
- Manages the Survey Administrator in either a direct supervisory or a matrixed capacity.
Fiscal Management/Budget Responsibilities/Judicious Use of Resources
- Exercises fiscal responsibility in the utilization of all CASE resources.
- Works directly with the Sr. Director of Information Technology on budget planning, tracking, and forecasting.
Liaison Responsibilities
- Works cooperatively and diplomatically with all divisions and regions.
- Liaises with CASE colleagues in other parts of the world to ensure the best sharing of ideas, expertise and knowledge.
- Incorporates tasks and/or projects related to objectives as directed by the CASE Strategic Plan.
Image Responsibilities
- In keeping with the CASE Values Statement, ensures that CASE is well represented by exercising a high degree of professionalism, accuracy, and ethics, in all activities, services, and products.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.
CASE Vaccination Policy: Vaccination against COVID-19 is an important tool in helping to prevent infection and reduce hospitalization and mortality. CASE vaccination policy is as follows for each regions:
US/CAN and Latin America Offices: To access a CASE office, you must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have an approved exception to this requirement as an employee with an approved medical or religious exemption (U.S.) or be subject to testing or other national/local restrictions in effect where the CASE office is located.
Europe and Asia Pacific Offices: CASE strongly encourages staff to obtain the most current COVID-19 vaccine and booster as soon as it is available to them unless they are ineligible to receive the vaccine due to medical reasons.
Alternative Work Arrangement: As of January 1, 2022, CASE implemented an Alternative Work Arrangement policy where, after 4 weeks of employment, eligible staff are given the opportunity to work from home up to 2 days per week and in office 3 days per week.

JOB COMPLEXITY AND KNOWLEDGE
This position requires an interest in, as well as an aptitude for, high level technology concepts, although the position itself is not technical in nature. Instead, the successful incumbent will have demonstrated administrative knowledge and skills, to include paying bills, managing vendors, tracking staff workload, and improving and documenting processes. In addition, a high level of confidence and demonstrated leadership abilities are required to coach other directors within the department to improve work distribution and efficiency.
The incumbent is also expected, over time, to develop a broad knowledge of global privacy regulations and to remain current on emerging technologies in order to advise on their potential application at CASE.
Problem Solving and Judgement
High level judgement and problem-solving skills are required, as the incumbent is frequently faced with situations which require immediate action in response to issues and requests. Complete understanding of an issue, interacting with key internal/external persons handling the issue, and the way in which the issue is handled, all affect the outcome of the situation.
Professional and Organizational Knowledge
- The position requires that the incumbent to quickly develop a deep understanding of CASE, its policies and procedures, an understanding of CASE culture and regional and divisional interdependencies.
- The position requires a deep understanding and respect for the organization’s systems and workflow.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Seven to 10 years of experience working in a technology environment. At least three years of non-profit experience is preferred. The incumbent should also possess excellent communication, organizational and negotiation skills, as well as an interest in data protection policies and regulations and emerging technologies.

- Strong negotiation skills and contract management expertise.
