The International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) is seeking a strategic, creative, and mission-driven Director of Marketing, Communications, and Membership to lead the organization’s global brand, communication activities, and member engagement strategy. As IGCS expands its programs, including education, mentorship and training, research, advocacy, and global member activities—the need for coordinated and sophisticated marketing and communications has grown significantly.
This leadership role will ensure that every member touchpoint—from recruitment to renewal to volunteer engagement to program promotion—operates under one coherent voice, look, and message. The Director will define and execute a long-term marketing vision that strengthens member value, enhances global reach, drives IGCS programs visibility and engagement and reinforces IGCS’s reputation as the leading global community for gynecologic cancer professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
Develop and implement a comprehensive annual Marketing, Communications & Membership strategy aligned with IGCS’s mission and growth priorities.
Establish clear goals, KPIs, and performance benchmarks to measure impact across digital marketing, communications, and membership engagement.
Lead cross-departmental planning to ensure all IGCS programs—education, mentorship, ACCESS, research, advocacy, World of Hope, and regional initiatives—are effectively promoted and understood within the global community.
Provide high-level counsel to leadership on organizational positioning, messaging, brand reputation, and communication risks.
Marketing & Communications Management
Oversee all communications channels including email marketing, newsletters, website, social media, advertising, and campaign communications.
Ensure a unified, consistent brand identity across all platforms, materials, and member touchpoints.
Lead development of creative content and storytelling that elevates IGCS programs, member achievements, and global impact.
Manage media relations, press releases, announcements, and high-visibility organizational messaging.
Oversee digital marketing strategy and analytics to strengthen audience reach, engagement, and conversion.
Membership Growth, Engagement & Retention
Supervise the Membership Engagement and Program Coordinator and provide strategic direction to maximize member value, satisfaction, and volunteer participation.
Guide initiatives that improve member retention, diversify membership globally, and drive meaningful engagement across regions and professional groups.
Support efforts to highlight and promote IGCS member benefits (mentorship, education, networks, committees, leadership opportunities).
Ensure member experience from onboarding to renewal is seamless, responsive, and reflective of IGCS values.
Team Leadership & Organizational Development
Define and maintain team roles, responsibilities, and reporting structures to optimize efficiency and accountability.
Coach, mentor, and develop staff and contractors to ensure a high-performing, collaborative team environment.
Oversee workflow systems, processes, and project management tools to improve execution of campaigns and deliverables.
Manage departmental budget and resource allocation in alignment with organizational priorities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Program, Education, Development/Sponsorship, and Events teams to support campaign needs and ensure strategic alignment.
Coordinate with leadership and volunteer committees on messaging, program visibility, and global community engagement.
Support donor communications, sponsorship visibility, and corporate partner engagement through aligned marketing strategies.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field (Master’s preferred).
7–10+ years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, or membership leadership roles, ideally in global organizations or nonprofits.
Proven success leading integrated marketing and communications strategies across digital platforms.
Experience managing teams, supervising staff, and developing high-performing departments.
Strong writing, storytelling, and content development skills.
Highly strategic, analytical thinker with the ability to translate complex programs into compelling narratives.
Experience managing brand identity and organizational messaging.
Ability to work effectively across diverse cultures and regions.
Preferred
Experience in healthcare, scientific, or membership-based organizations.
Global marketing experience.
Familiarity with CRM systems, email marketing platforms, and analytics tools.
Understanding of volunteer-driven organizations and international professional societies.
Established in 1987 as a not-for-profit, the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) unites interdisciplinary members of the gynecologic cancer care team including gynecologic oncologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, allied health providers, and other clinicians and researchers who devote their professional lives to gynecologic oncology research and patient care.
The mission of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society is to enhance the care of those affected by gynecologic cancers worldwide through education and training and public awareness.
