As a member of the learning team, the associate director of industry relations provides management and leadership of industry-focused outreach that ensures best-in-class partnership opportunities which advance trade-related connections, educational experiences and other customer-oriented deliverables.
Industry Relations
Determines the ATSSA value proposition for existing and potential industry partners; creates and executes activities to sustain and grow value proposition.
Builds, manages and oversees a comprehensive, metrics-based industry relations program to increase learning revenue, industry market share, awareness and partnerships.
Travels to meet with potential industry partners and customers, conducts presentations and meetings and connects with departments of transportation to provide information regarding ATSSA training services and products and secure business.
In alignment with strategic plan, develops and successfully implements meaningful and best-in class funded partnership opportunities and sales strategies to grow ATSSA non-grant training and product revenue.
As a key component of the industry relations program, oversight and management of Corporate Training Partner (CTP) efforts and resulting analysis that develops and executes specialty contracts, CTP Instructor recruitment and retention outreach, grows an active roster of Partners, and increases related royalty revenue.
In collaboration with member engagement, conducts member, chapter, and customer relationship-building outreach activities to develop and present information on ATSSA training services and products.
In collaboration with government relations, identifies key agencies, departments, and offices at the federal, state, local levels that further the objectives of government and industry relations efforts paying visits to and fulfilling requests for more information when connections are forged and expanded knowledge on ATSSA’s trade-related activities are sought.
In collaboration with training operations and Marcom, leverages industry partnerships, membership connections, and customer relations to promote, capitalize on, and encourage response to product specials and price incentives releases in accordance with the annual marketing plan.
In collaboration with educational development, ITS and Marcom, leverages industry partnerships, membership connections, and customer relations to promote, capitalize on, and encourage attendance of training offerings and grant courses.
In collaboration with ITS, attends trade shows, industry meetings, and other events to externally represent and serve as a spokesperson for ATSSA training; grows network to expand market share and sales.
In collaboration with ATSS Foundation staff, draw connections with and make introductions to potential key partners for the advancement of Foundation-related causes.
Continually scans the industry environment identifying key matters of significance to proactively address potential concerns and resolves member as well as customer issues by determining root cause and, in collaboration with various ATSSA teams, develops solutions to improve ATSSA’s learning-focused reputation.
Utilizes published data to inform ATSSA industry relations activities as well as participates in research and development impacting industry segments to employee knowledge gained to grow ATSSA’s business by furthering existing relationships and fostering new relationships.
General Operations
Provides data for and development of the relevant budget lines and forecast changes.
Produces reports, presentations, and other documents as requested.
Serves on internal teams and working groups; provides updates in meetings as directed.
Leads project management, ensuring proper planning, adherence to deadlines and budget, and executes activities associated with projects.
Manages vendor relationships, manages contracts as needed.
In collaboration with training team members, provides information to marketing and communications as needed.
Maintains professional, technical and industry knowledge by participating in relevant professional development activities, reviewing professional, technical, and industry publications and content and participating in relevant professional societies.
On-site participation in ATSSA and industry events as requested (Convention & Expo, etc.) as requested.
Provides back-up to training team members as requested; supervises team members as required.
Other duties as assigned that drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the association.
Qualification Requirements
Education & Experience
A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight years of successful project management and business development experience, however a combination of education and substantial relevant experience may be considered. Experience in adult education or the roadway infrastructure industry preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to communicate persuasively to diverse audiences; experience giving effective presentations at industry conferences, to executives, and within the industry; proven business development experience; successful in forming and maintaining productive business relationships; strong analytical abilities with the capacity to interpret complex data, industry information, and market trends; experience analyzing survey results, and generating actionable insights; senior level project management skills; well organized; strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to bring projects to completion within the schedule provided and work around problems; flexibility and ability to adapt to change quickly; proficient in MS Office applications and other technologies commonly used in a business environment; experience managing and leading staff; experience reviewing and managing contracts; ability to navigate service level issues; knowledge of the roadway safety infrastructure industry relationships, issues and trends; ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
