This position is part of the RE+ Events Education team, which is responsible for conference program development and delivery at all RE+ Event conferences and trade shows. As part of an agile team, the Education Manager will be responsible for the creation, delivery, and continuous improvement of compelling adult education and professional development programs that meet the business, networking, and professional development goals related to renewable energy industry attendees.

Education Manager Position:
The Education Manager is an experienced, mature, consensus-builder, to work with internal team members, and external stakeholders, partners, and vendors on a daily basis to deliver exceptional customer service and professional programming for our attendees. The manager demonstrates high levels of organization, experience in coordinating the development of educational programming for adult learners, an understanding of how to implement strategic goals, and previous experience managing abstract submissions and speaker management databases. The manager supports the organizational goals of our partner organizations, as such, experience with non-profit/association organizations and success supporting a diverse roster of subject matter experts and partners is critical.
The Manager, Education will be responsible for the following:
Managing numerous RE+ Events education programs including, but not limited to: session presentation development, speaker coordination and scheduling, conference website development and updates, collecting session data, and other projects, as necessary.
Implementing educational programming for multiple RE+ Events. This includes working with the staff of SEIA and SEPA to support content development committees, outlining session topics, facilitating the creation of session descriptions, inviting and tracking speakers, coordinating and facilitating session planning calls, onsite oversight of sessions, speakers, and poster presenters, and assisting with program evaluations both externally and internally.
Developing outstanding, customer-focused relationships with speakers, poster presenters, and attendees by responding creatively, listening actively, and applying best practices to determine solutions.
Supporting the Deputy Director of Education and SEIA/SEPA staff to foster an effective, relationship-driven, communication-centered process, including participating in weekly calls.
Working with operations, sales, marketing, and external vendors to ensure seamless program development and execution.
Supporting the Senior Director of Education with strategic planning, committee development, and processes.
Maintaining our speaker database (Cadmium CD) effectively, ensuring all products meet and exceed SETS standards.
Serving as relationship owner and resident expert of Cadmium, ensuring all related products are used efficiently.
Providing accurate and timely reporting.
Collaborating with the Education team to evaluate and recommend continuous improvements.
In the first 90 days, we want you to learn the processes in which we develop and run education at RE+ Events through shadowing and onsite event training.
Other duties as requested.
Job Conditions:
RE+ Events is a virtual-first office. Physical office option in Arlington, VA. Full-time telework is our standard, with intermittent in-person gatherings.
Some travel (20-25%) and non-traditional work hours (i.e., after hours, weekends, and holidays) are required.
Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds and physically participate in the movement, setup, and storage of event-related items/materials.
Experience & Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree and more than five years of experience developing conference and ‘hands-on’ programming for adult learners in a non-profit organizational environment, or seven plus years combined equivalent of work experience and education.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing a high volume of tasks.
Experience with Cadmium CD is critical to this position and will be given preference.
Understanding of scientific program/content design, including peer-review and session formation.
Success in building commitment and engagement with volunteer thought leaders.
Familiarity with association/non-profit business models.
Strong ability to remain calm under pressure and work with a detail-oriented, process-driven approach, which is crucial for this position.
Confidence to ask questions, proactively seek opportunities, and look for ways to improve processes to achieve greater efficiency during all phases of planning.
Experience prioritizing, organizing, and tracking details, taking initiative, and effectively managing deadlines and multiple priorities.
Commitment to strong relationships and quality service to internal team members, external partners, and stakeholders by understanding their objectives and exceeding client and attendee expectations.
Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in working with external stakeholders to manage relationships effectively.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively in both written and oral contexts with internal customers, attendees, team members, and vendors.
Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Professional designation (i.e., CMP) or advanced degree.
Association/non-profit management, event, or program development experience, client relationship management a plus. Experience with event marketing, sales, business development, and/or operational tasks including market development, attendee acquisition, research, outreach, content development, analysis, etc.
Experience with strategic planning for meetings and events to ensure continual improvement and quality customer service.
