VICE PRESIDENT FOR MEMBERSHIP AND CHAPTER RELATIONS

Position Overview:
The Vice President for Membership and Chapter Relations is responsible for leading and managing the association’s membership recruitment, retention and engagement initiatives. The vice president oversees the development and execution of the annual Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat. The vice president serves as a liaison between NAIOP Corporate and chapter staff and leaders while also ensuring the health and vitality of the organization’s chapters. The position is part of NAIOP’s senior management team and collaborates with the board of directors and committee leaders.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and management to membership department and contributes to the formation and execution of overall organization strategic direction.
Develops, implements and evaluates plans to recruit, orient and retain members on a national basis
Conducts various forms of member research and makes recommendations based upon results.
Develops and implements plan related to the annual membership renewal cycle
Leads and manages NAIOP Chapter Assistance and Analysis Program
Facilitates chapter strategic planning retreats
Analyzes and interprets membership reports, noting trends and making recommendations based on findings
Oversees the development and execution of the annual NAIOP Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat
Works to establish effective relationships and communication between NAIOP chapters and headquarters officers and staff via direct visits, newsletters, Chapter Leadership Retreat, etc.
Serves as liaison between chapter officers and staff and the national board of directors and executive committee
Maintains contact with chapter officers, providing motivation and assistance with local recruitment, orientation, retention, organizational structure and policy development
Collaborates with the marketing team for recruitment/retention/image advertising, marketing materials and other promotional initiatives.
Researches and identifies prospective members
Develops and manages departmental budget
Oversees the maintenance of membership records and periodic data reporting
Supervises, coordinates and provides feedback on all membership-related activities undertaken by the department
Creates a strategy and executes strategy for launching new chapters. Responsible for the management of new chapters in their inaugural year.
Manages the Membership & Chapter Relations committee

Education and Key Attributes:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Certified Association Executive designation preferred.
10+ years’ association management experience with a membership and/or chapter relations focus
5+ years’ experience managing a team
Entrepreneurial, innovative and strategic mindset; ability to develop and execute tactics to meet strategic goals
Demonstrated leadership and skill in building relationships with a variety of key stakeholders
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to balance multiple competing priorities
Proven managerial skill with ability to motivate and lead a team of direct reports and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure superior results
