The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (NCVMA) is searching for an experienced Executive Director in Raleigh, North Carolina. Reporting to an Executive Committee within a Board of Directors, the Executive Director acts as the steward of the NCVMA’s mission: promoting integrity and excellence in veterinary medicine.
This role requires coordination between multiple stakeholders including veterinarians of North Carolina, community and government agencies, and national veterinary organizations. For that reason, we are looking for a seasoned relationship manager, with proven leadership ability, and strong written and oral communication skills. Knowledge and interest in the legislative process is strongly preferred. This is not a remote position.
Compensation package includes competitive salary, stipend for health insurance, Simple IRA with match, cellular and internet allowance, and professional memberships.
Primary Responsibilities
Remains aware of issues and policies in North Carolina that affect our 3100 member veterinarians plus 435 student members, and recommends appropriate action to protect and advance the profession. This includes relationships with the North Carolina Legislature and fundraising for the Association’s PAC.
Leads efforts for membership development and communication.
Oversees/manages the financial operations of the NCVMA, Friends of NCVMA Foundation, and of the North Carolina Veterinary Conference.
Supervises philanthropic activities including grants to members, shelters, and animal organizations.
Establishes administrative policies and supervises Association employees.
Communicates effectively with Board members, plans Board meetings, and maintains records of Association business.
Collaborates with outside agencies to develop a strong public relations campaign.
Coordinates multiple in-person and online continuing education events including large, multi-day conferences with speakers, an exhibit hall, and food service.
Maintains strong relationships with Industry Partners, North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board, the Agribusiness Council, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
