The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) is a nonprofit medical organization committed to advancing cardiovascular ultrasound to improve lives. ASE is seeking a full-time Practice Management Manager.
Position Summary: This position coordinates and advances the interests of echocardiography as it intersects with payment and practice management issues. Provides expertise to ASE committees, members, and staff on practice management issues. Proactively anticipates and responds to members’ coding/billing, reimbursement, compliance, practice management, and related regulatory needs and concerns. Equips members to use successful practices by learning, leveraging best lab practices, and providing written updates on the evolving practice management environment. This position is 40 hours a week with a potential for a remote setting. Remote Candidates must reside in one of the following states: NC, SC, MD, GA, TN, VA, or DC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (90% of the time):
Proactively work with ASE’s consultants to provide analysis and interpretation of payment and professional practice regulations and trends of interest to cardiovascular ultrasound and develop responses via comment letters, meetings, and other appropriate means.
Work with the Advocacy Committee to identify and develop strategies to meet current and future payment/practice management needs of ASE members consistent with overall ASE strategic goals and objectives.
Serve as the primary staff liaison for the Society’s work in developing innovative payment models, including alternate payment models, and collaborate with other volunteers and staff in strategizing and in the development of MIPS Value Pathways.
Provide expert advice on physician payment and health care finance issues. Be the spokesperson for practice management issues with internal and external bodies.
Support the AMA HOD liaisons by attending AMA meetings and outreach activities, as needed.
Coordination of Echo and Technical Lab Directors Forum
Point of contact for requests
Recruitment and Maintaining members of the Forum
Handling communications and minutes for the Chair(s)
Manage Help Desk for Practice Management Questions
Monitor and provide timely 1st level of support for help tickets and member calls
Facilitate and review member requests routed to consultant
Track completion of requests
Provide communication to members when issues arise
Coordinate Volunteer-based Projects relating to practice management issues
Liaison for Scientific Sessions practice management sessions (aka “Value Forums), along with creating copy for promotions
Other taskforces as assigned
Manage Salary, Workforce Surveys and Related Activities
Point person for requests from members
Coordinate survey questions, presentations, slides and articles
Coordinate the Grand Challenge for Sonographer Workforce issues
Manage Webinars related to Practice Management
Attend Advocacy Committee calls and be knowledgeable on activities to serve as a back-up to VP of Health Policy as needed.
Other Functions:
General Administrative (10% of the time):
Support the organizational structure of ASE by attending staff meetings, working on task forces, seeking and attending professional development opportunities, working in a team atmosphere and cooperating with other staff members, and completing minutes, meeting summaries, paperwork, and timesheets in a timely manner.
Contribute to other projects and tasks as needed in support of ASE’s success.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, CEO, and Deputy Director.
Travel:
Domestic travel to ASE meetings may be required for this position.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree in healthcare administration, Public Health or related field preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years demonstrated prior experience representing medical associations or practices, or working in the health policy, coding or regulatory area of an association. Experience working in non-profit medical environments with volunteers is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Job requires frequent sitting, and repetitive hand and wrist movements.
