The American Psychiatric Association (APA) is a national medical society with relationships with over seventy separately incorporated state and regional psychiatric organizations (District Branches) in the United States and Canada. The Manager of District Branch Communications is responsible for coordinating and managing meetings, communications, operations, and activities of the Office of District Branch and State Association (DB/SA) Relations in close coordination with the Director. The incumbent works closely with the Director to support organizational goals through effective communication, relationship building, and project management. The Manager also works cross-functionally with the APA and DB/SA leadership and administration on shared goals and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a point of contact for DB/SA leadership and administration on APA related issues, respond to and direct inquiries to respective APA divisions and department and the APA Foundation, and escalate issues to the Director.
Coordinate and facilitate high-level leadership meetings (live and virtual) between APA and DB/SA leadership, executives, and administration, including conferences, business meetings, officer orientations, and administrative trainings.
Facilitate the communication and coordination of information and requests from APA administration to DB/SA leadership and administration to maintain and build strong relationships.
Contribute to the development and implementation of short and long-range goals, objectives, policies, operating procedures, standards, and guidelines.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in any field.
2-4 years of project coordination/management experience and high-level executive and administrative responsibilities.
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to establish and achieve shared goals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to work with all levels of management.
Strong interpersonal and relational skills with the ability to work with others as part of a team.
Ability to work independently under pressure, manage multiple projects at the same time, meet multiple deadlines, troubleshoot, and problem solve.
Must be detail-oriented, organized, ethical, responsible, and self-motivated.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, OneDrive, and virtual communication platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
