Serves as the Association and Institute Chief Executive Officer with responsibility to carry out and implement the Association and Institute stated policy objectives and goals.
Implements Board established policies and works within the budget constraints as established by the Association/Institute Board of Directors.
Assists the Board in formulating and updating Association policies and procedures in all areas of Association and activity and responsibility. Assures the execution of such policies.
Evaluates and recommends new directions, programs, policies and so forth that will result in the constructive growth of the Association.
Assists committees in the development of objectives and work plan.
Develop Association Forums and assist them with their meetings/educational programs and so forth.
Attends Board and committee meetings and submits minutes/reports.
Establishes and maintains appropriate relations with allied health, community, state and national organizations that relate to the field of aging.
Serve on the Alzheimer’s Resource Coordinating Council on behalf of LASC (Governor appointed position)
Maintains liaison with governmental agencies that regulate membership.
Represents LASC at LeadingAge National and Executive Forum meetings.
Provides general as well as specific direction in the day-to-day lobbying function of the Association to the General Assembly. Maintains a working knowledge of legislative issues and concerns of the membership. Assures regular monitoring and intervention in the legislative process.
Maintains working relationship with LASC’s lobbyist consultants and reports activities to the Board.
Disseminates information to LASC members and other interested parties.
Responsible for the publication of the Association newsletter and other publications/communications.
Assists in the recruitment of new members and the retention of members.
Supervises the part-time Director of Education for the SC Institute on Aging
Assists the Director of Education to develop quarterly educational seminars, educational programs, webinars and the Annual Conference.
Provides consultation and assistance to LASC members as needed.
Maintains LASC’s statistical and financial data.
Assures that membership dues notices are sent, membership records are maintained and changes are submitted to LeadingAge National.
Recruits, selects and supervises competent personnel for approved staff and consultant position(s). Conducts at least annually performance evaluations for personnel.
Performs other duties as assigned by the LASC Chair and the LASC Board of Directors.
Provides organization and administrative leadership within the framework of the Association Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws and Policies. Responsible for the oversight of the services and programs offered by the Association and the Institute. Responsible for assuring that the decisions, recommendations and the actions of the voting membership and the Board of Directors are implemented.
