SUMMARY:
Manages and maintains the development and processing, publishing, and cyclical revision of NECA’s ANSI-accredited National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS) program and assists in the coordination of multiple annual events and conferences. This position also includes coordination with various other industry-related Standards Development Organizations (SDOs).
DUTIES:
- Manages ANSI-accredited, Internet-based, standards development process.
- Coordinates with subject matter experts (authors) and other internal and external resources to develop industry wide standards.
- Develops, maintains, and improves internal NEIS standards development practices and procedures.
- Assists in the preparation to publish standards and safety products.
- Manages and assigns ISBNs to NECA Codes and Standards-based publications.
- Manages the National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS) marketing, publicity, and Honor Roll awards program.
- Develops and provides social media content related to Codes and Standards
- Develops and contributes to bi-monthly Codes and Standards newsletter about NEIS Standards development.
- Develops and implement new products and procedures related to NEIS
- Manages subscription list for NEIS and Code Questions of the Day
- Responsible for budget accounts related to standards development
- Serves as a liaison with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and manages all functions and correspondence related to NECA NEIS program
- Represents NECA at electrical industry meetings and events.
- Attends NEC Code Making Panel Meetings as assigned and attends multiple other meetings and conferences.
- Coordinates official NECA proposals and comments developed by the NECA Codes and Standards Committee.
- Submits and tracks Public Input and Public Comments on behalf of NECA for electrical-based Codes and Standards published by NFPA.
- Serves as Assistant Secretary for the NECA Codes and Standards Committee and maintaining the committee roster and technical committee assignments.
- Maintains NECA’s memberships to standards development organizations.
- Provides direct development and input to Risk Management, Codes, Standards and Safety Annual budget

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in communications or similar field and education/experience and familiarity with the American National Standards Institutes (ANSI) accreditation procedures. Minimum of four years of experience in working with or producing relevant content and understanding of codes and standards as it relates to the electrical industry.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Some travel (up to 25%) and occasional public speaking may be required.
- This position does not require regular attendance at the Washington DC headquarters office but does require remote connection capabilities and an environment conducive to professional work.
