NPMA is currently seeking an Associate Vice President of Accounting to oversee its general accounting functions including financial operations, treasury management, and reporting functions. This department lead will manage a team of 5, report to the COO and work in close, daily collaboration with other executive team members. The ideal candidate will be an ambitious, skilled, professional with initiative and sound judgement that seeks to build upon and expand the organizations accounting processes and procedures, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Responsibility Overview
As Associate VP of Accounting, you will be the senior financial leader, a key member of the leadership team and highly visible throughout the company. The Associate VP of Accounting will have responsibility for all accounting and financial functions of the organization while advising the CEO, COO, and other Executive Team Members and Senior Management in the formulation and implementation of goals, budgets, policies and objectives to insure sound fiscal management of the organization. Additionally, this position will be responsible for overseeing all general accounting and financial reporting functions including A/R, A/P, and monthly financials for 15 entities, ensuring company assets are adequately safeguarded, and all financial reporting is GAAP compliant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
As a leader of the Accounting Department, you will help build out a best-in-class team, increase productivity, and ensure delivery of complete and accurate financial reporting. This is a hands-on position where you will be performing with your team – not just overseeing your team! Key responsibilities include:
Audit – Oversee the preparation of materials for the independent annual audit and lead the team through this process with the desired outcome of a clean management letter.
Taxes (990s, state tax filings) – Perform required tax filings in a timely manner to keep the Association in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
Budgeting/Forecasting – Take an active lead across departments to assist in compiling, reviewing, and providing input throughout the budgeting process. Regularly work with the Executive Team to provide financial forecasting.
Oversee Monthly Closing & Reconciliation Process – Work with the team to ensure the Associations’ books are closed in timely and accurate manner.
Serve as the liaison to the Finance & Audit Committee and prepare quarterly treasurers report for deliver by volunteer Treasurer.
Job Requirements
7+ years of Accounting and business experience
Experience with direct management, hiring, development, and retainment of talent
Strong leadership experience in a demanding and quick moving environment
Ability to define problems, collect data from multiple sources, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Ability to make informed decisions
Curious and willing to learn about the pest control industry to bring forward the best solutions and ideas
Effective planning and organizational skills
Strong communication skills to present, influence and convey key messages
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Minimum of seven (7) years' general US and/or international accounting experience required
Experience managing direct reports
Experience working for a Non-Profit Trade Association a plus
CPA or equivalent, desired
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Expertise with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Association Management Databases (with emphasis on ability to use or learn Aptify)
Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems
