The Director of Membership Marketing directs marketing and communications activities related to membership recruitment, engagement, and retention. This position focuses on the Americas region and reports to the Senior Vice President of Membership, Marketing, and Publishing.
RESPONSIBILTIIES:
Plans, prepares, and implements marketing plans, strategies, and budgets to achieve membership recruitment, engagement, and retention goals.
Develops new, proactive programs to increase membership, onboard new members, and further engage existing members.
Develops content for marketing channels—print collateral, email, telemarketing, social, website, etc.
Identifies internal and external audiences and develops highly personalized, segmented communications.
Manages the Manager, Membership and Marketing, who has oversight of vendor relationships and manages membership operations.
Additional Marketing Duties:
Collaborates strategically with branding and other senior staff on messaging, marketing, and communications to members.
Serves as a strategist and liaison on membership to staff and members in field offices.
Provides competitive intelligence, conducts database research, and works on other special projects as requested.
Responds to requests for information and provides marketing materials to internal and external customers.
Analyzes campaign metrics related to content, style, and demographics to optimize future marketing.
Collaborates with colleagues in Membership and Marketing and in other departments to ensure cross-marketing efforts.
Prepares the membership budget.
REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS degree.
Eight to ten years of marketing experience. Experience in membership marketing in a nonprofit individual membership association or a for-profit loyalty program is desired.
Excellent interpersonal and organization skills required.
Experience in digital marketing, including social media, email marketing, marketing automation, and data-driven marketing.
Intermediate to advanced PowerPoint skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Management experience a plus.
