The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) seeks an experienced, self-motivated and dynamic Communications Specialist for our Immigration Justice Campaign. The AILA Communications and Outreach Department is charged with promoting the mission of the association and the expertise of our over 15,000 member attorneys to both media and the general public. As a member of this robust team, the selected candidate will be responsible for supporting a variety of communications activities, with a focus on producing content for the Justice Campaign and building engagement across AILA and Council websites, email lists, social media channels and marketing campaigns.
This position requires previous experience developing and managing communications, social media and marketing strategies, in addition to expertise in speech writing, and developing presentations and reports. He or she must also have a strong background working with various social media platforms and tracking software, and must have a solid familiarity with project management principles.
Our ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, media studies or other related field. The position requires 4-5 years of progressive experience in a Public Relations/Communications environment with proven experience managing broad media campaigns in a non-profit or similar organization, and must have a strong interest in technology and its use to increase outreach and online presence. Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Hootsuite along with email and press management platforms such as Salsa and Cision are preferred.
