The National League of Cities’ Center for City Solutions seeks an experienced leader to head our Public Sector Retirement initiative. This program focuses on research and education for city leaders on public sector retirement, including retiree healthcare benefits, as well as research and programming on other city fiscal policy issues. This is a three year grant funded position and reports to the Research Director. NLC seeks a hard-working and creative colleague who shares our vision and commitment to helping city leaders build better communities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct and implement a new research, education and communications program on public sector retirement.
Building off of the success of NLC’s City Fiscal Conditions research, lead the development of a new fiscal benchmarking tool for city leaders.
Provide thought leadership and research support on other city fiscal research efforts.
Coordinate, manage and actively engage the public sector retirement Advisory Board to provide input and guidance on the project.
Conduct original research and data analysis and produce reports and toolkits for city policy makers.
Publish in internal and external media publications, present at relevant conferences and represent NLC at partner meetings.
Serve as the key NLC media source on public sector retirement and other fiscal issues.
Deliver effective presentations and communicate in a clear and concise, non-technical, approachable manner about technical issues.
Plan and implement workshops and meetings at NLC annual conferences.
Coordinate engagement with State Municipal Leagues to host conferences and events.
Primary grants manager (project and budget management) and key liaison with funder.
Travel to attend relevant events and NLC meetings.
