The National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) seeks a fun, experienced and creative association executive to serve as its next executive director. NACE is a professional trade association with approximately 4,000 passionate members who are committed to making NACE the premier resource and community for catering and event professionals. NACE has an annual operating budget of $1.5 million, financial reserves, and seven staff who telecommute. NACE has executive office space leased in Columbia, Maryland.
The executive director also will provide leadership to The Foundation of NACE, the charitable arm of the organization, dedicated to the development of NACE members and the educational advancement of the catering community. Since 1985, The Foundation has awarded more than $100,000 to professionals pursuing careers in catering and events.
NACE will celebrate its 60th Anniversary this summer. The new executive director will use this milestone to strengthen the alignment between the association and the Foundation and ensure both organizations have the operational excellence and visionary leadership to flourish now and in the future.
Responsible for the development and implementation of plans, procedures, and activities to carry out both the Association and the Foundation’s strategic plans.
Responsible for providing information, advice, and counsel to the Presidents and Boards of Directors for the creation of policies, programs, and strategic direction for both the Association and the Foundation.
Responsible for supervising staff and for providing overall staff leadership. This includes interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining as appropriate; and addressing employee complaints and resolving problems.
Responsible for the financial management of the Association and the Foundation, including the development of annual budgets, and timely and accurate financial reporting.
Responsible for liaisons with other organizations.
Responsible for support of all activities associated with the Board of Directors and committees, including staffing meetings, developing agenda and meeting materials, securing meeting sites, and taking and writing meeting minutes.
Responsible for the operations, including evaluating the results of program activities; ensuring that contractual obligations are being fulfilled; allocating resources for program effectiveness and efficiency; and developing recommendations for Board consideration.

This position is exempt and full-time with a $150,000 salary and excellent benefits.
