Overview: Take the lead on continually enhancing relationships with existing members, as well as meeting/exceeding established sales goals aimed at new member recruitment. •Achieve revenue objectives by proactively selling memberships, services and offerings to new companies and existing members•Manage a portfolio of existing and prospective members, maintaining a diversified set of strategies to achieve annual membership goals•Develop compelling proposals that maximize the value of the organization to targeted companies spanning our products and services •Maintain opportunities, leads and contacts using the association management software and excel spreadsheets to aid in the maintenance of account contacts and activities •Conduct account research and create compelling proposals that deliver results•Direct and oversee the sales activities of the membership operation including budget management and strategic planning.•Engage and effectively manage staff and volunteer leadership who will assist with member relations.•Work with the organization (Marketing, Professional Development, Accreditation, Exhibits and Publication Sales, etc.) to ensure positioning of compelling offers; work with internal organization and existing members to identify new leads and references Member Relations•Maintains close relationships with members, and coordinate and implement sales plans with staff and regional representatives. Provide notices, invitations, agendas and minutes for the Membership Committee.•Effectively responds to member comments in accordance with set standards, policies and rules; uses ideas, feedback and suggestions to continuously improve the services provided to members.•Greets members and has a lead presence; always cultivating relationships and making introductions with key staff and amongst members.Member Recruitment•Follows up on member referrals, leads, key target lists, publications, etc.•Organizes production of membership kits.•Conducts orientation (on-boarding) program for new members.•Requests active members to make personal referrals to assist with recruitment efforts.Strategic Planning and Management•Plans and implements strategies to meet association’s membership goals.•Conducts routine communication with members to retain feedback on membership dues, practices, fees, and transitions.•Assesses the need for and makes recommendations regarding membership classifications and proposed incentives to retain satisfied members.•Researches the need for ongoing sales promotions regarding demographics, market segmentation data, etc.•Surveys other associations for information useful in setting and revising membership policies.•Develops and adheres to a departmental budget; after approval, monitors and takes corrective action as necessary to be sure budget goals are met.
Education and Experience•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Sales, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related major.•Five years of relevant work experience in membership sales or related experience in the non-profit sector.
