A small staff national sports and recreation organization of over 11,000 members is seeking a virtual Sr. Manager of Chapter Relations to oversee the operations, strategies, and programs driving the health of its 100+ member chapters. This role works closely with the leadership team and chapter volunteers to effectively influence member retention and new member goals. This role has the ability to formulate, affect, interpret and implement management and operating practices related to chapter structure, operations, growth, vitality and sustainability.
Areas of Responsibility:
Strengthen leadership within association chapters.
In partnership with the VP, Development, orchestrate and support efforts to grow and maintain membership.
Provide chapter and leader consultation and advisement as needed.
Work with chapters to develop and monitor goals and action plans to meet Chapter Minimum Standards, reach membership goals, improve member and leader satisfaction and any other special needs deemed important for efficient and effective chapter operations.
Oversee leader training and support in chapter operations and the growing and servicing of their membership.Including but not limited to:
Remote and in-person training, orientation and work sessions.
The development of recorded and live presentations
The development of written materials, reference guides, tools and other resources.
The providing of online communities, conference calls and other opportunities for leaders to exchange ideas and ask questions.
Uphold Association governance policies and procedures in work conducted with Chapter leaders and members on Chapter issues..
Oversee the opening and closing of Association Chapters.
Oversee the formation, training and managing of the Chapter Development Team that assists in serving the needs of Chapter Volunteer Leaders.
Support Association initiatives to grow industry strength and brand awareness. Orchestrate the development of operational plans and direct implementation of strategic actions designed to achieve Association goals.
Serve on Association Board committees as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO and/or VP, Development.
The ideal candidate will have:
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Ability to build, train, develop and manage volunteer teams
Knowledgeable in the use of governance documents
Familiarity with the structure and operations of Association Chapters is helpful
Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
Excellent organization, time management skills, and creative problem solving
Understanding of market trends, research and statistics
A customer-service orientation
Strong verbal and written communications and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to assess current state, recommend changes and implement new policies and procedures to enhance the Association’s effectiveness
Planning, budgeting and managerial experience is integral to this position.
Education & Experience:
Minimum of Bachelors’ Degree in Business Management or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of experience in association management
Experience managing volunteers
Skilled in oral and written communications
Experience in training, supervision and conflict resolution preferred
