The primary objective of the Communications and Marketing Manager is to expand the reach and visibility of CFRE International and the CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) credential within the fundraising community and philanthropic sector in support of the organization's strategic plan and overall growth goals. This role has significant interaction with CFRE certificants, prospects, and the staff and volunteer leadership of affiliated organizations and their chapters.
The duties and responsibilities of the Communications and Marketing Manager include but are not limited to:
Managing media relations, including development and maintenance of media contact lists, responding to media inquiries, and daily media monitoring.
Writing press releases and acting as first contact for media inquiries.
Securing earned media placements for the organization.
Developing a strategic communications/advertising/media plan and calendar.
Developing and disseminating branded marketing materials, including e-communications, e-newsletters, promotional brochures, social media, exhibit displays, etc.
Developing and executing marketing strategies for CFRE Publishing products.
Developing marketing materials and providing support for the CFRE Ambassador volunteer program.
Working with designers to create ads and contracting for advertising with electronic and print media.
Managing conference exhibits, including maintaining the exhibit schedule, booking exhibit space and furnishings, developing materials, and managing shipment of materials to/from conference sites.
Developing and implementing social media and web content strategies.
Completing other duties as assigned.
The Communications and Marketing Manager:
Has at least 5 years of experience in communications and marketing positions, with experience in the fundraising community and philanthropic sector preferred.
Is self-directed, with the ability to work independently or as a team member as required.
Is able to devise and execute strategic communications and marketing plans.
Is able to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously.
Has experience working with all forms of online and off-line media/vendors including designers, mail houses, advertisers, reporters, publishers, etc.
Has a track record of providing excellent customer service to stakeholders (members, affiliated organizations, the media, etc.)
Is tightly organized and detail- and deadline-oriented.
Has excellent verbal and writing skills, with superior proofreading ability.
Focuses on solutions rather than problems.
Enjoys working in a small-office environment.
Is professional, collegial, and a team player.
Is committed to excellence.
Is proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and has prior experience with CRM (e.g., Salesforce) and CMS (e.g., WordPress) platforms.
Has experience with social media, social media management tools (e.g., HootSuite), and social media analytics.
Has experience with online collaboration platforms (e.g., Slack, Basecamp).
