Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is seeking a Vice President of Information Technology (IT) to lead all internal and external technology systems, processes, and strategies across the organization.
This position will report directly to the President and CEO, and will be based in our Washington, DC office. The VP of IT will be lead a team of two and will oversee systems administration (AMS/CMS/LMS/CLOUD/Office365), website architecture, security and disaster recovery protocols, internal staff support, procurement and allocation of hardware and software, management of all external vendor and partner relationships relating to IT, and overall processes and protocols to ensure the organization’s IT capabilities are aligned with the goals of the association. This person will work closely with departments and administrative support staff across the global organization to ensure business users have the support, functionality, and appropriate autonomy to drive business results.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional project management capabilities, the ability to adapt technical requirements and specifications to meet the needs of the business. Solid business acumen and strong collaboration skills are also a must.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Develops and implements long and short-term Global IT strategies in support of business goals
Responsible for budget and oversees allocation and management of all IT-related resources
Leads a department of three including manager level staff and ensures department capabilities are in line with business needs
Designs and implements internal IT protocols including internal support function for staff
Collaborates with business users to ensure their IT needs are effectively and efficiently supported in both office-based and remote user environments.
Leads the development and maintenance of CLIA’s business continuity and disaster recovery plans
Ensures proper PCI compliance protocols are in place on all applicable data-related systems.
Provides insights and recommendations to CLIA leadership regarding IT best practices and creative solutions to business challenges
Ensures reliable and timely performance of AMS/CMS/LMS systems
Ensures technology systems adequately support a comprehensive digital strategy – including website, data management and social media strategies
Manages all external vendor relationships including RFP processes, matrix support relationships to the business, and project management accountability
Bachelor’s degree in Information Management required
Master’s degree in related field preferred
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in similar management position
Familiarity and experience with emerging technologies and systems (i.e., AMS, CMS, LMS, Cloud/Virtual, Office365, VOIP, website, mobile, social applications)
Demonstrated knowledge of
Microsoft development tools (i.e., SQL, .NET, IIS, ASP)
PCI Compliance and cyber security
Self-managed and cloud-based technology solutions
Project Management principles and methodologies
Advanced proficiency in global and local network infrastructure including operating systems, firewalls, switching, routing, and secure VPN.
Prior experience overseeing the successful management of large IT projects
Prior contract negotiation experience
Highly developed relationship and consensus building skills for the purpose to drive innovation for technology initiatives
Natural ability to energize and encourage others to collaborate effectively while motivating and managing the organizations technology resources
Prior supervision and management experience
Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills
Ability to effectively translate technical issues to non-technical audiences
Communication with non-technical support staff to assist IT in overseas offices
Prior experience developing and adhering to budgets
Prior experience working in or for an association preferred
