The Vice President Education and Health Policy will lead ACA’s newly formed education, professional development and health policy department. The incumbent will craft a strategy that shapes and advances ACA’s professional development and educational programming agenda with a strong focus on health policy. Educating members and providing technical assistance regarding reimbursement, health policy, and coding is also an important aspect of the position.
As a member of the senior management team, the VP reports directly to the EVP and is responsible for identifying, developing, implementing and managing ACA’s intellectual resources, programs, products and services and maximizing the profitability of this portfolio, as well as ensuring products are well-aligned with members’ needs and ACA’s business strategy. The VP will create ACA’s education activities and programs to support members’ continuing education and professional development needs, including delivering training on best practices in successful and ethical practice management, and highlighting and summarizing relevant research and how to bring it into chiropractic practices.
The VP will manage day-to-day operations to ensure the department advances ACA’s goals and objectives. The VP brings a professional development and education perspective to ACA’s planning and operations while continually striving to improve the overall quality of ACA’s services and programs to its members, the larger chiropractic community, students, faculty and other organizations important to ACA’s mission.
The VP will be the staff liaison to key stakeholder groups such as insurance companies, chiropractic education faculty and administrators, and other chiropractic organizations such as Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB), Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE), and the National Chiropractic Board of Examiners (NBCE).
Develop, implement and manage a portfolio of programs that focus on coding, reimbursement, insurance coverage trends, regulatory issues, and other aspects of health policy (i.e. quality reporting, HIPAA, appeals, etc.)
Monitor federal communications and identify important issues and opportunities related to health policy that can be translated into relevant course materials for ACA members.
Engage, educate, and equip ACA members with educational materials for practice management utilizing instructional design and a learning management system.
Build and access a wide repository of instructors/faculty, coaches and consultants to help ACA create and deliver high-quality professional development and education products and services.
Generate a reliable and substantive non-dues revenue stream for the organization from the sale of educational products and services both to ACA members and the chiropractic profession at large.
Develop and deliver key metrics around education product, program and service efficiency and effectiveness.
Develop a departmental strategic plan, related budget, and achieve results against plan objectives and budget requirements.
Participate in strategic planning, budgeting and management of the organization; manage departmental efforts so they dovetail with organization’s priorities.
Facilitate the ACA’s Medicare and Payment Policy committees and workgroups.
At least 10 years of experience developing and implementing educational programming with a strong focus on health care policy.
Solid knowledge of health care policy and emerging issues in the industry.
Working knowledge of instructional design methodology and learning management systems, and experience developing high-caliber educational programming based on analysis of learning needs and goals and appropriate delivery systems to meet those needs.
Demonstrated success in creating and managing systematic processes to support an efficient and effective department.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven experience developing, implementing and managing a departmental strategic plan.
