The United Fresh Produce Association offers an exciting opportunity for a rising communications professional to join a dynamic association marketing & communications team serving the fresh produce industry. A skilled multi-tasker and content producer, the manager of communications is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the United Fresh voice through digital and print communications and other internal and external outreach. United Fresh is looking for a self-motivated professional with 2-5 years experience in communications and public relations with association experience preferred. You’ll work collaboratively with peers and other departments to help grow participation in member programs, services, and events in a creative environment where creative solutions are encouraged.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute communications strategies to raise the profile of United Fresh Produce Association and United Fresh Start Foundation programs, experts and missions.
Produce, in cooperation with multiple departments, the writing and editing of the Association’s weekly newsletter and news releases distributed to members, all staff and media.
Work as the primary writer, editor and project manager on articles, presentations, brochures, news releases, news updates, special reports and other Association materials.
Contribute to the management of the Association’s social media strategy by guiding regularly updates to website properties, and gathering, editing and posting relevant content through digital channels.
Identify story ideas and news opportunities by monitoring industry developments, proactively following the calendar of industry events and meetings and maintaining contact with Association staff and members.
Leverage industry trade relationships to develop ongoing editorial opportunities.
Research/monitor industry news and developments.
Manage communications-related vendors, proposal processes and billing as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
BA in communications, public relations or a related field with 2-5 years of experience.
Excellent written abilities with focus on content-oriented writing is required.
Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, resources, goals and initiatives.
Excellent time management skills and strong project management skills.
Experience working for a trade association.
Desire to excelling working in a team environment.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and online communications tools and public relations platforms.
Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner at all times.
