The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, Inc., the nation’s largest insurance industry association and a leading voice for small business on Capitol Hill, is looking for a high-energy person to join our communications team. We need someone who can create and package high-value content across all platforms (print, digital, video and social) for the media and our members. In an evolving media landscape, we have to be a go-to resource for reporters while also doubling down on our own efforts reach members through video, social media and more. The communications manager helps set the strategy and then executes campaigns to make sure IIABA and the resources the association offers are top of mind for members.

Duties include content generation and packaging, writing, reporting, substantive and copy editing, handling media inquiries, website production, video editing and production, interpreting content analytics and more. This position has a heavy writing workload, including press releases, articles for internal publications and social posts.

Strong reporting, writing and editing skills, command of AP style and experience with Google Analytics a must. Must exhibit a working knowledge of content management systems (Sitefinity and SharePoint a plus) and video editing systems (Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro). Excellent organizational and analytical skills with unwavering attention to detail required. Must be able to juggle multiple deadlines and work independently.
Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, public relations or English with at least 5 years of professional experience in a communications role. Capitol Hill communications experience and a working knowledge of the legislative process preferred; insurance industry or trade association experience a plus.
