Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) – Reston, VA
FCCLA, a nation-wide student association headquartered in Reston, VA, is seeking a full-time candidate for the position of Communications Manager. This position requires graphic design with an emphasis on page layout and digital media, as well as public relations research, writing, and copy editing.
The candidate will produce design and content for the association. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Designing conference collateral and signage
Researching, writing, and implementing press/media pitches
Creating logos for partner initiatives, national programs, and conferences
Oversight of social media, e-newsletters, and mobile app
Updating FCCLA’s website regularly through a content management system
Designing/updating existing manuals (strategic plan, annual report, media kit, etc.)
Managing the production of annual magazines (4 editions) and newsletters (2 editions)
Create and manage communications plan/calendar
The position is equally divided between managing projects and executing content. Additional duties include management of personnel, establishing and maintaining vendor relationships (printers, photographers, videographers, etc.), and overseeing contracted consultants.
Required Experience and Skills:
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop required. Web, video, and social media skills are a plus. Additional preference will be given to candidates with direct experience in public relations and media relations.
A bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a similar field
Public Relations and Communications experience
Marketing and/or Digital Media skills are a plus
Additional Salary Information: Job Type: Full-Time (37.5 hour work week)
